The Worth Avenue Association's historical walking tours are back for the season. Starting Wednesday, Nov. 4, and running every Wednesday through May 5, 2027, a group of up to 40 people meets at 10:30 a.m. in Via Amore, 256 Worth Avenue, across from Tiffany & Co. and Chanel, and spends 75 minutes walking the street with the association's historical docent, Rick Rose.

The tour covers how Worth Avenue began, the architecture that gives it its look, the landmarks along the way and some of the people who have lived on and around it. Tickets are $30 per person, and the association says the net proceeds go to the West Palm Beach Library Foundation.

How the tour works

The route is about three quarters of a mile, and the group moves along at a brisk pace between stops. Every ticket has to be bought in advance on Eventbrite, through the link on the association's website. When a date sells out, Eventbrite offers a waiting list, but the association is clear that a spot on that list is not a ticket: it only opens up if more tickets become available for that date.

Arrive a few minutes early. Staff check each guest in at Via Amore and hand out a wristband that identifies the people on that day's tour.

The walk goes ahead rain or shine. If weather changes or cancels a tour, the association posts the announcement on Eventbrite by 9:30 a.m., an hour before start time. If there is no announcement, the tour is on.

Accessibility

The full route has no steps, so it is wheelchair accessible from start to finish. Guests using wheelchairs are given priority positioning at each stop. The association encourages anyone with limited mobility to use a wheelchair or electric scooter, but it does not supply either, so bring your own.

Parking

Worth Avenue has three-hour metered parking, and Peruvian Avenue has four-hour meters, both paid through the ParkMobile app. Valet parking is available for a fee at the Apollo lot on Hibiscus Avenue.

A self-guided option

For anyone who cannot make a Wednesday morning, Rose has also written a book, Palm Beach: The Essential Guide to America's Legendary Resort Town, which the association points to as a way to take a self-guided walk around Worth Avenue and the rest of the island. It is sold online and at local bookstores.

Also on the calendar

The association's next evening event is Holidays on Worth on Tuesday, Dec. 1, from 6:10 to 8 p.m. Details are on the association's events calendar.
