A new women's golf league plays its first match on Sunday, Nov. 8, inside a 1,500-seat arena on the Palm Beach State College campus in Palm Beach Gardens. WTGL, the women's counterpart to the men's TGL league that plays in the same building, opens its inaugural season at 3 p.m. with Los Angeles Golf Club against New York Golf Club, live on ESPN.

The league was created by TMRW Sports in partnership with the LPGA. Twenty-five LPGA players are on its rosters, among them major champions, Solheim Cup players, Olympians and a Hall of Fame member, and every regular-season match, both semifinals and the finals are played at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens.

Who plays on Sunday

The opener puts Michelle Wie West back in competition. She plays for Los Angeles Golf Club, owned by Alexis Ohanian, alongside Alison Lee, Gaby López, Aki Iwai and Kiara Romero. New York Golf Club, owned by Steve Cohen and Cohen Private Ventures, brings Lydia Ko, Danielle Kang, Rose Zhang, Linn Grant and Yana Wilson.

Each match runs about two hours, with three players from each team going head to head. The green inside SoFi Center rotates and reshapes itself between holes, and seats sit close enough to the hitting bays that the arena is built to feel greenside rather than gallery-style.

Five teams, ten regular-season matches

Three more teams join over the coming weeks. Motor City Golf Club of Detroit has Jeeno Thitikul, Lexi Thompson, Brooke M. Henderson and Ronni Yin. Boston Common Golf, owned by Fenway Sports Group, has Lottie Woad, Megan Khang, Céline Boutier and Ina Yoon. Atlanta Drive GC, owned by Arthur M. Blank, has Minjee Lee, Yuka Saso, Charley Hull and Andrea Lee.

The regular-season schedule, all at SoFi Center, all times Eastern:

A new hole from Annika Sörenstam

The simulator course list includes a new hole designed by Annika Sörenstam, called SOS. It honors a Swedish warship that sank outside Stockholm on its maiden voyage in 1628.

Going in person

SoFi Center is on the Palm Beach State College campus at 3160 PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens.
